Google has now released new attributes for shopping ads, allowing you to add a short title. Short titles are currently used in browsy contexts such as discovery, shopping ads, or Gmail.
You might have already noticed that the full title you use always gets cut off after x number of characters. You can make the titles much cleaner visually by adding short-form titles. These titles can have a maximum character length of 150 characters, which is identical to the normal title, however, it is recommended to have a short title length of between 5 to 65 characters.
This is excellent news, as web search shopping ads have always looked awkward.
When you add your short titles, you will start seeing ads like below.
Examples of title vs short_title.
- Title: Nike Waffle Trainer 2 Men’s Shoes in Blue, Size 9 | DH1349-402
- Short Title: Nike Waffle Trainer 2
Here is another example:
- Title: Tom Ford TF 613 52T Square Plastic Tortoise / Havana Sunglasses with Rose Gradient Lens
- Short Title: Tom Ford TF613 52T
The new attribute name is called short_title and you can also read the full documentation.
