Google Merchant Center has recently introduced a new feature that allows you to link your social media accounts. This functionality enhances your ability to highlight your brand across Google Shopping. Additionally, Google has openly confirmed that your social profile may be used to populate the knowledge panel.
Although Google has not currently ensured the verification of the ownership of these linked accounts, there is an expectation that verification checks will be implemented in the future.
Google’s practice of viewing social profiles as a form of social proof has been widely recognized. This approach aids in boosting the trust factors associated with your accounts, even though Google has not previously communicated this publicly.
At the time of writing, US account holders can link their Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest accounts.
Where can you link your accounts?
To establish these connections, navigate to the top right corner of the screen, select the gear icon, and then click on ‘business information’. This option is beneath the ‘Customer service contact for shopping ads’ panel.
