Updated Contact Detail Requirements for Google Shopping / Google Merchant Center

Initial policy confirmation was on 8th June 2021.

Starting from August 2nd, 2021, Google will relax the contact detail requirements.

Before the policy update, you required a minimum of 2 contact points on your website. Starting from August 2021, you only need 1.

Which Contact Options Can I Choose?

  • A contact us form
  • A link to a social media business profile (Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter)
  • An email address
  • A phone number

Other Requirements!

You do need to add your private business details in Google Merchant Center.

  2. Click on the Gear Icon in the top right corner
  3. Business Information

I recommend providing as much transparency and trust signals to your customers by publicly adding all contact information.

These are:

  • Email address
  • Phone Number
  • Business Address
  • Contact Form
  • Business Hours
