After nearly six months of frustration, Google has finally restored a crucial feature to Google Merchant Center—filtered product downloads. Previously, merchants could not download only a specific selection of products based on applied filters when using Google Merchant Center Next. Instead, they were forced to export their entire product feed and manually sift through the data, adding unnecessary steps to what should have been a simple task.
This was a major downgrade from Google Merchant Center Classic, where filtered product downloads worked seamlessly. When Merchant Center Next rolled out, this functionality was inexplicably missing, creating headaches for merchants—myself included—who rely on precise product selections for reporting, analysis, and troubleshooting.
Now, Google has finally addressed the issue. With this update, when you apply filters in the product listings view, your download will include only the filtered products, just as it did in the previous version. This long-overdue fix is a welcome relief for merchants who have been dealing with workarounds for months.
While it’s great to see Google restoring essential features, this situation highlights a broader issue—why was such a fundamental tool removed in the first place? Hopefully, Google will take merchant feedback more seriously in future updates to avoid similar disruptions.

This still doesn’t work properly for me. i.e. I go to products, needs attention, select ‘marketing methods’ = ‘Shopping ads’, download, and for every item ID it gives me a separate line for

Which is a bit of a pain when you want to share a spreadsheet with this info on it.
The only thing I think of is that Google has not launched it on all accounts. As with all new features, they are upgraded step by step. Wait a month; maybe your account will then be updated. Once you do, it’s great. I really hated sifting through what I needed by deleting rows in a spreadsheet editor.
