Menachem Ani discovered today that Amazon Prime is advertised in the shopping tab when searching for products in the US. This specific ad is listed when searching for plumbing baths.
I was immediately disappointed that Amazon Prime was added, as it would make it so much harder for merchants to compete against Amazon.
I then discovered that other benefits pop up if you keep searching for different products. For example, if you search for Nike Shoes, you will see Nike Membership Member Benefits.
The new Google Shopping Results places the member benefits underneath the paid ads and above the free listings. These membership benefits will only show for free listings on the shopping tab.
So, how are these added?
Merchants with existing loyalty programs interested in highlighting their benefits on Google must initiate an onboarding process. To request an onboarding, contact the team at [email protected]
The loyalty program details are not submitted through the feed. Instead, merchants must add the details during the setup process inside the Google Merchant Center account, which will be available post-on-boarding. If the program is not available in your Merchant Center, onboarding is required.
This program is available for merchants in the United States and Japan.
