Google has just rolled out a new feature that could significantly enhance your brand’s appearance on Shopping listings—and it all starts with your marketing emails.
As of April 3rd, Google Merchant Center will automatically collect marketing content from your website, emails, social media, and other promotional materials to enhance your listings across Search, the Shopping tab, and other Google surfaces. This change is designed to make your brand and products more visually compelling — and it’s already live.
What’s Changing?
You’re automatically opted into this new feature, meaning Google can now pull relevant information such as:
- Sales and promotions
- New product announcements
- Links to your primary social media channels
- Social content (e.g., Instagram posts, tweets)
- Brand images and videos
- Your brand’s voice and values
This data is pulled from public sources like your website and email marketing campaigns. If used correctly, Google will use it to enhance your listings visually and contextually, giving you a competitive edge.
You can opt out at any time in Google Merchant Center under Settings → General Account Options → Marketing Content Usage.

Why Does This Matter?
This feature brings a few significant benefits:
- Less manual work – No need to manually upload promotions or announcements.
- Better visibility – Enhanced listings stand out more in Shopping results.
- Competitive advantage – More content = more ways to stand out from competitors.
However, perhaps one of the most exciting parts is how Google may start to display annotations like “New product” directly on listings, giving shoppers more context and potentially increasing click-through rates.
Want Google to See Your Emails? Here’s How:
If your marketing emails aren’t being picked up automatically, you can manually add Google to your email list.
Add [email protected] to your newsletter recipients.
You can also add [email protected] according to Debbie Collins. However I did not find any official documentation on this.
This ensures Google directly receives your latest marketing content.
Yes, the email looks a little strange — but it’s officially listed in Google’s policy page, so it’s legit.
How to Check or Change Your Settings:
- Log into your Google Merchant Center account.
- Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right.
- Go to General account options.
- Scroll to the bottom and find Marketing content usage.
- You can choose to share or not share your content.
By default, you’re opted in.
