How to Submit a WooCommerce Google Shopping Feed to Google Merchant Center Using CTX Feed

If you’re running a WooCommerce store and want to get your products in front of more shoppers, Google Shopping is one of the best places to start. But before your products can appear in Google Merchant Center (and ultimately in Shopping Ads), you’ll need to set up a product feed.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to submit a Google Shopping feed from WooCommerce using the CTX Feed plugin. I’ll cover both the free and Pro versions, share a few tips I’ve learned along the way, and explain why feed quality is the foundation of better performance in Google Ads.

This is a sponsored article. However, I have complete editorial control, and everything shared here is based on my own experience working with the plugin.

Installing CTX Feed in WordPress

The process starts in your WordPress dashboard. Head to Plugins → Add New and search for CTX Feed. Install it, activate it, and you’re ready to go. The only requirement is that you already have WooCommerce installed.

Or download it here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/webappick-product-feed-for-woocommerce/

Once CTX Feed is active, you’ll notice a new feed management option in your dashboard. From here, you can start creating feeds for different channels, including Google Shopping.

Choosing the Right Feed Format

When creating your first feed, you’ll select the target country, template (Google Shopping), and file type. Here’s an important tip:

  • Avoid using XML files. They’re bulky because each attribute is repeated for every product. If you have thousands of items, the file can get very large and slow.
  • Instead, choose TSV (tab-separated values). With TSV, attributes appear only once as headers, making the file lighter and faster for Google to process.

This small decision makes a big difference in performance and server load.

Adding Attributes and Custom Fields

By default, CTX Feed includes the core attributes Google requires: title, ID, description, price, link, and so on. That’s enough to get started, but for advanced feed management, sometimes you’ll want to include custom attributes, like promotional text, product types, or variant-specific details.

The template version has limitations here. You can only choose from predefined options; however, they are updated regularly with new attributes. If you want a Google Shopping template where you can add your own custom attributes, use this: https://merchantcodex.com/ctx-feed-google-shopping-template-configuration/

And if you want more advanced customization, that’s where the Pro version comes in, offering:

  • Attribute mapping (e.g., combining product title + brand + SKU into one custom title)
  • Dynamic attributes (if/else logic to add values automatically)

For example, if all your T-shirts are cotton, you can automatically append “Cotton” to your product titles using a dynamic rule.

Category Mapping

Google Merchant Center often auto-assigns categories, but this isn’t always perfect, especially if your product titles or descriptions are vague. CTX Feed (free version) allows you to manually map categories so your products are always placed correctly in Google’s taxonomy.

Pro tip: If you’re working with apparel, accessories, or furniture, take the time to map categories properly. It saves you from misplacements and disapprovals later.

Submitting the Feed to Google Merchant Center

Once your feed is ready, simply copy the feed URL and proceed to Google Merchant Center.

  1. Go to Settings → Data Sources.
  2. Add a new primary feed.
  3. Select “Add Products from File” and paste in your feed link.
  4. Set the fetch schedule (once every 24 hours is more than enough).

If you’ve enabled advanced feed management, you can also assign feed labels, which are helpful if you run multiple feeds and want to target them with specific campaigns in Google Ads.

Why Feed Quality Matters

A lot of store owners underestimate the importance of feed quality. But here’s the truth: your data feed is the foundation of all Shopping performance.

If your titles, attributes, or categories are poor, even the best ad campaign won’t deliver. On the flip side, improving feed data directly improves your CTR, relevance, and conversions.

That”s why I like CTX Feed, it gives merchants the flexibility not just to generate a feed, but optimize it in ways that align with both Google’s requirements and your business needs.

Bonus: Discount on CTX Feed Pro

If you want access to all the advanced features, custom attributes, mapping, dynamic rules, you’ll need the Pro version. The good news is that CTX Feed has provided a 10% discount for anyone using the coupon code FEEDARMY.
