How to Delete a Manually Added Product in Google Merchant Center

If you’ve been trying to delete a manually added product in Google Merchant Center and can’t find the option, you’re not alone. This is something I get asked about a lot, so I wanted to write it up quickly to save you the frustration.

The Old Way (That No Longer Works)

If you’ve been using Google Merchant Center for a while, you’ll remember that deleting a product used to be pretty simple. You’d go to your Products list, tick the checkbox next to the product, and a bin icon would appear, letting you delete it right there. Easy.

Well, that’s gone now. Google removed it, and a lot of people have been left scratching their heads, wondering where it went.

Here’s What You Need to Do Instead

Now, to delete a manually added product, you need to physically click into the product itself. So head over to Products, find the product you want to remove, click it to open it, then scroll down on the right-hand side to find the Delete Product option.

It’s a few more clicks than before, I know. A bit annoying, but once you know where to look, it’s straightforward enough.

A Better Way to Manage Products

Honestly, this is one of the reasons I don’t really recommend manually adding products in the first place. If you’re planning to add or update products regularly, I’d strongly suggest using a Google Sheet instead. It’s much easier to manage; you can add and edit attributes more efficiently, and it saves you a lot of headaches down the road.

Manual uploads are fine for a quick one-off addition, but for anything ongoing, a feed-based approach is the way to go.
